WAPF CINCINNATI CHAPTER DONATION

KUDOS to Awesome Anita Sorkin, volunteer local Chapter Leader for Weston A. Price Foundation in Cincinnati, OH.

Anita’s chapter meets monthly for a pot luck and learning experience. The topic of their May meeting was “How to Work with Vegetables”.

No, they didn’t talk about how to handle farm investigators, the subject was Kale.

While the 45 attendees nibbled on local, seasonal Stir Fried Kale, they passed the hat for donations, to benefit the Fund.
That’s simple and effective fundraising at its best.

Anita wondered what would happen if EVERY WAPF Chapter Leader did the same at just one of their meetings. We like the way Anita thinks!

The Cincinnati WAPF Chapter’s donation of  $83 will go directly to the Fund and help defray our mounting legal fees.  Since we’ve just filed a Notice of Intent to Sue the USDA over NAIS, we need many more Kale nibbling, hat passing donors!  Thanks to Shirley Reischman for sharing her yummy recipe below as an inspiration to others!

Thank you Anita, Shirely and the Cincinnati WAPF Chapter!

Stir Fried Kale (Guaranteed to stir up donations!)

1 bunch kale
1 sliced sweet onion
1 ½  TBL minced garlic
salt & pepper
Balsamic vinegar
Olive oil
1 Hat – (for donations)

Shred kale leaves and chop the stems into small pieces
Heat a large skillet, covering the bottom with water
Combine the onion, garlic and oil in a mixing bowl
Put the combination into the heated pan
Sauté onion and garlic until soft
Add chopped kale stems and continue to stir fry 2 minutes
Add shredded kale leaves and stir fry until almost done, adding a bit of water as needed
Sprinkle with balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper to taste
Cook until done
Serve
and….
Wait till everyone has on their happy face, then pass the hat for the Fund!

USSERY INNOVATIVE DONATION

Members, Harvey and Ellen Ussery just taught a Modern Homesteading class, which featured a tour of their fascinating homestead, Boxwood, located in Hume, Virginia. www.themodernhomestead.us.

They requested a suggested $20 donation which would be passed on to support the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund.

Ellen was happy to report that they raised a total of $720 with that one farm tour! Amazing! Appreciated!

Folks got an up-close and personal view of the small and wonderfully diverse homestead and a Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund brochure.

Thanks Harvey and Ellen!
